  • 1 cup butter, softened slightly melted
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (177°C) and line 2 large baking sheets with silicone baking mats or parchment paper.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened butter and powdered sugar. Cream them together on the highest speed for about 5 minutes until the mixture is light and fluffy.
  • Gradually add the flour to the mixture. Start mixing at low speed and then increase gradually. The dough will initially appear crumbly but will eventually come together.
  • Transfer the dough into a piping bag fitted with a large open star tip. Pipe swirls or your desired cookie design onto the prepared baking sheets.
  • Chill the piped cookies in the fridge for 30 minutes to prevent excessive spreading during baking.
  • Bake one cookie sheet at a time in the middle of your preheated oven for 15-20 minutes until the edges begin to turn light brown.
  • Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet before transferring them.

Notes

If you prefer not to pipe the cookies, you can roll the dough into small balls and flatten them with a fork for a classic look.
