Equipment

  • heavy-bottomed saucepan For frying the pie bombs.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 7.5 ounces biscuits
  • 21 ounces apple pie filling
  • 10 units caramels cut in half lengthwise
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Caramel sundae topping optional

Instructions

  • Fill a heavy-bottomed saucepan with vegetable oil, about halfway full. Set aside.
  • In a small bowl, mix granulated sugar and ground cinnamon together and set aside.
  • On a lightly floured surface, flatten the biscuit dough to make it easier to work with.
  • Place 1 tablespoon of apple pie filling in the center of each dough circle. Make sure not to overfill!
  • Add a halved caramel on top of the apple filling for that gooey surprise inside.
  • Carefully pinch the edges of the dough together to seal the filling inside. Then roll the ends under to form a ball shape.
  • Heat the oil over medium heat until it reaches a temperature suitable for frying.
  • Carefully fry the dough balls, no more than 2 at a time, until they are golden brown on all sides. This should take about 3-4 minutes per batch.
  • Use a slotted spoon to remove the fried pie bombs from the oil and immediately coat them in the cinnamon sugar mixture.
  • Place the coated pie bombs on a plate and repeat the frying and coating process with the remaining dough balls.
  • Serve the Apple Pie Bombs immediately, drizzled with caramel sundae topping if desired. Enjoy every bite!

Notes

For a fun twist, try adding a sprinkle of powdered sugar on top before serving.
