Ingredients

  • 1 lb. fresh Brussels sprouts
  • 1.5 tbsp. olive oil
  • 2 tbsp reduced sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1.5 tsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp Asian garlic chili paste like sambal olek or Sriracha, adjust to heat preference
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper as needed

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 450°F. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and set it aside.
  • Rinse the Brussels sprouts in cool water, trim off the tough ends, and cut them in half or quarters for larger sprouts. Pat them dry with a towel.
  • Toss the sprouts with olive oil, and season lightly with salt and pepper. Keep in mind that soy sauce is salty, so go easy on the salt.
  • Arrange the sprouts in a single layer on the baking sheet, ensuring they are not crowded. Roast for 20-25 minutes until they are crispy and browned.
  • In a small saucepan, combine soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, sambal olek, and garlic powder. Simmer the mixture for 3-4 minutes until it thickens.
  • Toss the roasted Brussels sprouts with the sauce while they are hot, and serve.

Notes

Notes:
For extra crunch, you can sprinkle some sesame seeds or chopped nuts over the Brussels sprouts before serving.
