Equipment

  • Large Pan For cooking the filling.
  • Deep pot For frying the egg rolls.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 2 teaspoons vegetable oil
  • 0.75 pound ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon minced ginger
  • 3 cups coleslaw mix
  • 0.25 cup sliced green onions
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
  • 12 pieces egg roll wrappers
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1 quart oil for frying

Instructions

  • Heat vegetable oil in a large pan over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef, season with salt and pepper to taste, and cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Break up the beef as it cooks for even browning.
  • Add minced garlic and ginger to the pan and cook for an additional 30 seconds to release their flavors, being careful not to burn them.
  • Stir in the coleslaw mix and sliced green onions. Cook until the cabbage is wilted, about 3-4 minutes.
  • Add soy sauce and toasted sesame oil to the mixture, then remove from heat.
  • Spoon 2-3 tablespoons of the filling onto each egg roll wrapper. Fold according to the package directions, using the beaten egg to seal the edges properly.
  • In a deep pot, pour in 2-3 inches of oil and heat it to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Fry 3-4 egg rolls at a time, turning occasionally until browned all over, about 3-5 minutes.
  • Once cooked, drain the egg rolls on paper towels to remove excess oil. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

For a healthier option, you can bake the egg rolls in the oven at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 15-20 minutes until crispy. Remember, no alcoholic drinks are allowed, please substitute with a non-alcoholic option.
