Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil or avocado oil
  • 1 pound sirloin steak, cut into thin strips
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 medium green bell pepper, cut into strips
  • 0.25 cup onion, chopped
  • 0.5 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce or tamari
  • 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced
  • 0.25 teaspoon xanthan gum (optional thickener)
  • 15 ounces baby corn (optional)

Instructions
 

  • Heat the oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  • Add the sirloin steak strips and minced garlic, cooking until the beef is browned, about 3-5 minutes.
  • Remove the beef, season with salt and pepper, and set aside.
  • If necessary, add more oil, then sauté the green bell pepper and chopped onion until tender, about 3-4 minutes.
  • Pour in the beef broth and soy sauce, then add mushrooms and optional baby corn.
  • If desired, sprinkle in xanthan gum for thickening.
  • Cook and stir until mushrooms are softened, about 3-4 minutes.
  • Return the cooked beef to the skillet, stir, and heat through for 2-3 minutes.
  • Serve hot over rice, noodles, or enjoy as is.

Notes

For added flavor, consider marinating the beef in soy sauce for 15-30 minutes before cooking. No alcoholic drinks allowed, please substitute with a non-alcoholic option.
