Ingredients
  

  • 1 small head of green cabbage
  • 1 medium Vidalia onion chopped
  • 8 tablespoons of butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 10-ounce can of condensed cream of chicken or cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise
  • 3 tablespoons of melted butter for topping
  • 1 cup of shredded sharp cheddar cheese for topping

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F and lightly grease a 2-quart casserole dish.
  • Coarsely chop the cabbage. In a large nonstick pan, melt butter. Add cabbage and onion, cooking for 8 to 10 minutes until partially cooked down, stirring frequently. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Transfer the cabbage mixture to the prepared baking dish.
  • In a small bowl, mix the soup and mayonnaise. Spread this mixture over the cabbage.
  • Combine melted butter and cheese in a bowl. Sprinkle this topping over the casserole.
  • Bake for 30 minutes or until the topping is nicely browned.

Notes:
For added flavor, consider mixing in cooked ground beef or turkey with the cabbage mixture before baking.
