  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 pinch garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 4 salt
  • 1 8 pepper
  • 1 tsp hot sauce (Franks brand)
  • 8 oz freshly shredded sharp cheddar cheese

Instructions
 

  • In a medium-sized pot over medium-high heat, melt the unsalted butter.
  • Add the all-purpose flour and quickly whisk together for about 1 minute.
  • Slowly pour in the whole milk while continuously whisking to avoid lumps.
  • Stir in a pinch of garlic powder, Dijon mustard, salt, pepper, and hot sauce.
  • Add the freshly shredded sharp cheddar cheese and stir until fully melted.
  • Serve the cheese sauce warm.

Notes

For a spicier kick, increase the amount of hot sauce to suit your taste. No alcoholic drinks allowed, please substitute with a non-alcoholic option.
