Instructions
In a medium-sized pot over medium-high heat, melt the unsalted butter.
Add the all-purpose flour and quickly whisk together for about 1 minute.
Slowly pour in the whole milk while continuously whisking to avoid lumps.
Stir in a pinch of garlic powder, Dijon mustard, salt, pepper, and hot sauce.
Add the freshly shredded sharp cheddar cheese and stir until fully melted.
Serve the cheese sauce warm.
Notes
For a spicier kick, increase the amount of hot sauce to suit your taste. No alcoholic drinks allowed, please substitute with a non-alcoholic option.
