  • 1 tsp olive oil
  • 1 lb ground chicken
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 1.5 cups marinara sauce
  • 0.33 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 6 units buns
  • 1.5 cups mozzarella cheese

Instructions
 

  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Add ground chicken and cook until no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess liquid if needed.
  • Stir in Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  • Pour in marinara sauce, bring to a simmer, and cook for about 5 minutes until slightly thickened.
  • Remove from heat and mix in Parmesan cheese.
  • Preheat the broiler.
  • Toast the buns and place them on an oven-safe dish.
  • Spoon the chicken mixture onto the bottom half of each bun. Sprinkle with mozzarella cheese.
  • Broil the sandwiches until the cheese is melted and bubbly, about 2 minutes.
  • Top with the remaining bun halves and serve hot. Add fresh basil or arugula if desired.

Notes

For a burst of freshness, add a slice of fresh basil or arugula.
