Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 0.25 oz active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 0.5 cup sugar
  • 0.333 cup butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.75 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 tbsp cinnamon
  • 0.25 cup butter, melted (divided)
  • Chopped bacon pieces
  • 0.25 cup butter, softened
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 10 tbsp real maple syrup
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • Additional bacon pieces for topping

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm milk. In a large bowl, mix sugar, melted butter, eggs, salt, and the yeast mixture. Add 2 cups of flour and beat on medium speed until smooth. Gradually add enough remaining flour to form a soft, slightly sticky dough.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 6-8 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled, approximately 1 hour.
  • In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar, cinnamon, and chopped bacon. Set aside. Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it in half on a floured surface. Roll each half into an 11x8-inch rectangle. Brush with 1 tablespoon of melted butter and sprinkle with half of the brown sugar mixture.
  • Roll up each rectangle jelly-roll style, starting from a long side, and pinch the seam to seal. Cut each roll into 8 slices. Place the slices cut side down in baking pans. Cover with kitchen towels and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  • Bake at 350°F until golden brown, approximately 20-25 minutes. Cool on wire racks.
  • For the frosting, beat the softened butter, cream cheese, and maple syrup until well blended. Gradually add the powdered sugar and mix until smooth and creamy. Spread over warm rolls and top with additional chopped bacon pieces. Enjoy!

Notes

For a savory twist, you can add chopped beef bacon instead of regular bacon for a different flavor profile.
