  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1.25 cups half and half
  • 0.5 lb. medium pasta shells
  • 0.25 teaspoon onion powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 0.5 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 3.5 cups broccoli florets, uncooked
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • 0.75 cup Parmesan cheese, finely grated into a powder

Instructions
 

  • Prepare all ingredients before starting. Cut the broccoli into smaller pieces for quicker cooking.
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute, stirring gently to avoid burning.
  • Pour in the chicken broth and half and half, and add the onion powder, thyme, salt, oregano, and parsley. Bring to a boil.
  • Add the pasta, ensuring it is submerged in the liquid. Let it return to a boil. Cook partially covered, following the pasta package instructions. Add the broccoli for the last 6 minutes of cooking. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
  • Check the pasta for doneness before proceeding. If needed, cover and cook until desired doneness is achieved.
  • Remove the skillet from heat. Stir in the lemon juice and gently mix in the Parmesan cheese using a silicone spatula for a smooth finish.
  • The sauce will thicken as it stands. Garnish with parsley and serve with garlic bread with cheese for an extra treat.

Notes

For added flavor, consider topping with grilled chicken or shrimp. No alcoholic drinks allowed, please substitute with a non-alcoholic option.
