Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 large egg
  • 2 Tbsp. whole milk
  • 2/3 cup dried Italian-style or plain bread crumbs not panko
  • Kosher salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 10-oz. pkg. refrigerated or frozen any flavor ravioli, thawed if frozen
  • Vegetable or peanut oil for deep frying or cooking spray (for air frying)
  • 1/3 cup finely shredded Parmesan
  • 1 to 1 1/4 c. marinara sauce warmed

Instructions

  • In a shallow bowl, whisk the egg and milk together until combined. In another shallow bowl, mix bread crumbs with a few big pinches of salt and pepper.
  • Coat each ravioli in the egg mixture, then in the seasoned bread crumbs, pressing gently to make them stick. Place them in a single layer on a large platter or baking sheet.
  • For deep frying: In a large heavy pot or Dutch oven with a deep-fry thermometer, pour oil at least 2" up the sides. Heat over medium-high heat until the thermometer reads between 350° and 375°. Fry ravioli in batches, turning occasionally, until browned and crispy, about 3 minutes total. Use a spider strainer or slotted spoon to transfer them to a paper towel-lined plate.
  • For air frying: Preheat the air fryer to 350°. Spray the basket with cooking spray. Arrange ravioli in an even layer in the basket, then spray the tops with cooking spray. Air fry until browned and crispy, for about 5 to 7 minutes.
  • Sprinkle the cooked ravioli with Parmesan and serve with warmed marinara sauce on the side.

Notes

For an extra kick, consider adding a pinch of cayenne pepper to the bread crumbs for a spicy twist.
