Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 8 oz spaghetti pasta
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 0.5 cup chopped onion
  • 0.5 cup chopped green peppers
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 28 oz canned crushed tomatoes
  • 0.25 tsp ground oregano
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp Cajun seasoning
  • 0.25 cup sugar or sweetener
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti noodles and cook according to the package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  • In a large skillet or pot over medium heat, add the ground beef. Break it up with a spoon and cook until browned and fully cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Drain off any excess grease.
  • Add the chopped onions, green peppers, and minced garlic to the skillet with the beef. Cook for about 3-4 minutes, or until the vegetables are softened and fragrant.
  • Sprinkle in the Italian seasoning, along with salt and pepper to taste. Stir to coat the meat and veggies evenly.
  • Pour in the crushed tomatoes and stir everything together. Add the Cajun seasoning, additional Italian seasoning, oregano, salt, pepper, and sugar to balance the acidity. Taste and adjust as needed.
  • Add the cooked spaghetti to the sauce. Toss everything together until the noodles are well coated and the meat is evenly distributed.
  • Lower the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Notes

For a little extra flavor, consider adding some grated Parmesan cheese on top before serving. You can also add other vegetables like mushrooms or spinach for added nutrition. If you prefer a milder sauce, reduce the amount of Cajun seasoning.
