Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups cooked short grain rice or cooked jasmine rice
  • 1 egg egg
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 0.5 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon regular soy sauce adjust to taste
  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped green onion
  • 0.5 teaspoon vegetable oil or any neutral oil
  • Optional Additions: kimchi, canned tuna, roasted seaweed flakes, avocado, sautéed carrots/spinach/zucchini, or more protein

Instructions
 

  • Mix the hot cooked rice with the butter in a large bowl until well combined.
  • Heat the vegetable oil in a non-stick pan over medium heat. Fry the egg sunny side up or to your desired doneness.
  • Once the egg is cooked, place it over the buttered rice in the serving bowl.
  • Garnish the bowl with sesame seeds, sesame oil, chopped green onions, and soy sauce. Adjust the soy sauce to taste.
  • Break the egg on top and mix everything together gently until well combined. Enjoy while hot for the best flavor!

Notes

If using leftover rice, microwave it covered for 2-3 minutes until hot. No alcoholic drinks allowed, please substitute with a non-alcoholic option.
