Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 0.5 tsp onion powder
  • 0.5 tsp garlic powder
  • 0.5 tsp dried oregano
  • 0.5 tsp dried parsley
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 1 to taste pepper
  • 28 oz marinara sauce
  • 0.5 cup chicken broth
  • 4 oz mozzarella cheese, shredded or sliced
  • 0.25 cup fresh Parmigiano Reggiano, grated
  • 24 oz potato gnocchi
  • Fresh basil for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  • In a large sauté pan, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Once cooked, drain off any excess grease.
  • Add the olive oil, chopped onion, minced garlic, onion powder, garlic powder, oregano, parsley, salt, and pepper to the pan. Cook for 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the onion is soft.
  • Stir in the marinara sauce and chicken broth. Mix well and bring to a gentle simmer.
  • Reduce the heat to low, cover the pan, and let it simmer for 20 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  • After 20 minutes, stir in the potato gnocchi. Cover the pan again and simmer for an additional 10 minutes, or until the gnocchi is tender.
  • Remove the lid and stir in the mozzarella cheese until melted and bubbly.
  • Sprinkle the grated Parmigiano Reggiano on top before serving. If desired, garnish with fresh basil.

Notes

Consider adding a pinch of red pepper flakes for some heat. This dish pairs wonderfully with a side salad or garlic bread.
