  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 0.5 cup yellow onion, diced
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 32 ounces frozen diced hashbrowns
  • 0.5 cup water
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon pepper

Instructions
 

  • In a large skillet or cast iron skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
  • Add 1 pound of ground beef and ½ diced onion to the skillet. Sauté until the beef is browned and the onions are soft, about 5-7 minutes.
  • Stir in 2 teaspoons of minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  • Add the 32 ounces of frozen hashbrowns, 1 teaspoon of salt, ½ teaspoon of pepper, and ½ cup of water. Bring the mixture to a low boil.
  • Reduce the heat to medium, cover the skillet, and cook for 10-12 minutes until the hashbrowns start to soften.
  • Uncover the skillet and continue cooking over medium-high heat for another 10-12 minutes until the water evaporates and the hashbrowns are browned, stirring occasionally to prevent burning.
  • Remove from heat, serve warm, and enjoy your hearty meal!

Feel free to adjust the seasonings to your taste or add toppings like shredded cheese or chopped green onions for extra flavor.
