Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 2 lbs beef top sirloin steak, cut into chunks
  • 1 tablespoon mirin No alcoholic drinks allowed, please substitute with a non-alcoholic option.
  • 6 cloves garlic, finely minced or pressed
  • 2 teaspoons ginger paste
  • 3 tablespoons sesame oil, divided
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground white pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Kosher salt, to taste
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, divided
  • 3 medium carrots, thinly sliced on a bias
  • 2 medium zucchinis, sliced and halved
  • 4 ounces sliced mushrooms
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon teriyaki sauce or Japanese BBQ Sauce
  • 1 serving Fried rice and store-bought Yum Yum Sauce

Instructions

  • Place the beef in a large bowl or plastic bag. Add mirin, garlic, ginger, 1 tablespoon sesame oil, white pepper, and salt. Mix well to coat the steak. Marinate for at least 30 minutes. (Tip: Marinating overnight enhances the flavor even more!)
  • In a wok or large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of butter and 1 tablespoon of sesame oil over medium heat. Add carrots, zucchinis, and mushrooms. Cook until tender and golden brown, about 10-15 minutes. Season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Set aside.
  • In the same pan, add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter and 1 tablespoon of sesame oil over medium-high heat. Add the marinated steak. Cook for 3-4 minutes until seared, ensuring not to overcook. Drizzle teriyaki sauce over the steak and toss to coat.
  • Divide the steak, sautéed veggies, and fried rice into bowls. Drizzle with Yum Yum Sauce. Enjoy your homemade hibachi steak bowls! (Tip: Garnish with chopped green onions for extra flavor!)
