Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients

  • 2 cup powdered sugar, sifted
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 3 tablespoon unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 3 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • 2 tablespoon full-fat milk
  • 10.5 ounce dark chocolate (72%), chopped
  • 1 tablespoon neutral oil

Instructions
 

  • In a mixing bowl, blend the powdered sugar, salt, and butter together until well combined, creating a smooth mixture.
  • Add the peppermint extract and milk to the mixture. Stir until a stiff dough forms. If the dough seems too sticky, add a little more powdered sugar.
  • Transfer the dough onto a piece of baking paper and knead it gently until smooth. This will help incorporate all the ingredients well.
  • Roll out the dough between two pieces of baking paper to about 1cm thickness. Freeze the rolled-out dough for 30 minutes, or overnight for best results.
  • Once the dough is firm, use a cookie cutter to cut out rounds. Place the cutouts on a lined tray and freeze for an additional 20 minutes.
  • Melt the dark chocolate and neutral oil together in a heatproof bowl set over simmering water, or in the microwave in short bursts, stirring frequently until smooth.
  • Using two forks, dip each peppermint patty into the melted chocolate, shaking off any excess.
  • Set the dipped patties on a lined tray and freeze for 5 minutes to allow the chocolate to solidify.
  • For an extra touch, drizzle any remaining melted chocolate over the patties before freezing them until solid.
  • Store the peppermint patties in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two weeks or in the freezer for up to a month.

Notes

For a festive touch, sprinkle crushed candy canes on top of the chocolate coating before it sets.
