Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients

  • 4 tbsp honey
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce all-purpose or light soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp white vinegar or any vinegar except balsamic
  • 1 large garlic clove, minced
  • 2 fillets salmon, skinless (6 oz / 200g each)
  • to taste olive oil
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • to taste sesame seeds optional garnish
  • to taste finely sliced chives or shallots/scallions optional garnish

Instructions
 

  • Remove the salmon from the fridge 20 minutes before cooking. Pat the salmon skin dry with a paper towel and sprinkle with salt and pepper.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, white vinegar, and minced garlic to make the sauce.
  • Drizzle olive oil in a non-stick frying pan and heat over medium-high heat. Place the salmon in the pan and cook the first side for 3-4 minutes until golden. Flip and cook the other side for 2-3 minutes or until golden.
  • Pour the sauce over the salmon. Cook for about 1 minute or until it starts to slightly thicken. Check the side of the salmon to determine how cooked through the middle is. Adjust cooking time based on your preference.
  • Remove the salmon onto serving plates.
  • Serve the salmon drizzled with the sauce and sprinkle with sesame seeds and chives or shallots if desired.

Notes

For medium-rare salmon, cook until the middle is slightly pink. Adjust the cooking time based on your preferred level of doneness. No alcoholic drinks allowed, please substitute with a non-alcoholic option.
