  • 0.5 cup honey
  • 0.25 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon fresh grated ginger or 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 2 tablespoons minced garlic
  • 0.25 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cups broccoli, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • to taste Salt and pepper

Instructions
 

  • Mix honey, soy sauce, ginger, garlic, and red pepper flakes in a small bowl until well combined.
  • Marinate shrimp in 1/3 of the sauce mixture in a separate bowl.
  • Whisk cornstarch into the remaining sauce mixture and set aside.
  • In a skillet over high heat, cook broccoli with olive oil, salt, and pepper for 5-6 minutes until slightly softened. Remove and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, cook shrimp in butter for about 2 minutes on each side until pink.
  • Pour in the reserved sauce mixture and simmer over low-medium heat until thickened (about 2-3 minutes).
  • Add the cooked broccoli back into the skillet and toss until heated through.
  • Serve the honey garlic shrimp and broccoli over rice or pasta.

Notes

For a spicy kick, increase the amount of red pepper flakes. You can also add a squeeze of fresh lemon juice for extra flavor.
