  • 1 recipe Best Ever Pizza Dough
  • 8 ounces mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 0.5 pound sliced beef salami
  • 0.5 pound sliced pepperoni
  • 1 cup cooked ground beef
  • 0.5 cup fire-roasted diced tomatoes, drained
  • 2 tablespoons freshly chopped parsley
  • 2 tablespoons freshly chopped basil
  • 1 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese for garnish

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Divide the pizza dough into two equal parts and let them rest at room temperature until pliable.
  • Roll each dough portion into a 9x14-inch rectangle using fingers or a rolling pin. Keep an even thickness for uniform cooking.
  • Sprinkle 1/3 cup of mozzarella cheese down the center of each rectangle, leaving space around the edges for sealing.
  • Layer the beef salami, pepperoni, and ground beef on top of the cheese for a hearty filling.
  • Top with another 1/3 cup of mozzarella cheese, fire-roasted diced tomatoes, parsley, and basil for an aromatic touch.
  • Sprinkle the remaining 1/3 cup of mozzarella cheese on each stromboli to ensure a cheesy outcome.
  • Fold in the short sides, then tightly roll up from the long edge to form a log, ensuring everything is compact to prevent gaps.
  • Place the stromboli seam-side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Whisk the egg with 1 tablespoon of water in a small bowl. Brush this mixture over each stromboli and make slits across the top to allow steam to escape.
  • Bake for 20 to 25 minutes until deep golden brown. Keep an eye on it to ensure even baking.
  • Brush the tops with olive oil, sprinkle with parmesan cheese and additional herbs if desired. Slice into 2-inch sections and serve hot with marinara sauce on the side.

Notes

For a vegetarian option, substitute the meats with sautéed vegetables like bell peppers, onions, and mushrooms.
