Equipment

  • Skillet A large skillet is ideal for even cooking.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 pound kielbasa sausage
  • 1.25 pound potatoes about 5 medium-sized
  • 1 unit Vidalia onion, chopped
  • 0.5 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 0.33 teaspoon Kosher salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon oregano or Italian seasoning

Instructions

  • Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. This helps to get the kielbasa nice and brown.
  • Slice the kielbasa sausage and add it to the hot skillet. Cook and stir until browned, around 6 minutes. Remove the sausage, keeping the grease in the pan. (Tip: Keeping the grease adds flavor to the potatoes!)
  • Place the chopped potatoes in the skillet with the kielbasa grease. Sprinkle with paprika, salt, and oregano. Stir to coat the potatoes in the fat. Reduce heat to medium to medium-low, cover the skillet.
  • Cook the potatoes for about 13 minutes, stirring occasionally to ensure even cooking.
  • Add the chopped onions and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook for an additional 12 minutes, covered, stirring occasionally. (Tip: Keep an eye on the potatoes to prevent them from sticking.)
  • Once the potatoes are tender and the onions are translucent, return the browned kielbasa to the pan. Combine everything and cook for another 4 minutes.
  • Serve hot and savor your delicious Kielbasa and Potato Skillet! For extra flavor, consider adding a sprinkle of shredded cheese on top before serving.
