Equipment

  • Baking sheet
  • Skillet For browning chicken.
  • Oven For baking.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 0.75 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 cup seasoned Panko bread crumbs
  • 4 pieces thin sliced boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil or as needed
  • 4 slices deli ham
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Season each chicken breast with salt and pepper.
  • Prepare a breading station with three shallow bowls: Bowl 1: All-purpose flour, Bowl 2: Whisk the egg with vegetable oil, Bowl 3: Panko bread crumbs.
  • Bread the chicken by coating each piece in flour, then the egg mixture, and finally the bread crumbs. Place them on a baking sheet.
  • In a skillet over medium heat, warm olive oil. Brown each chicken breast for about 3 minutes per side. Tip: Ensure the oil is hot enough to create a crispy crust.
  • Top each browned chicken breast with a slice of ham and a slice of Swiss cheese.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C). Tip: Use a meat thermometer for accuracy.
  • For the Malibu Sauce, mix all sauce ingredients in a bowl and refrigerate until serving.
  • Serve the Chicken Cordon Bleu with the Malibu Sauce on the side. Tip: For a crispy finish, you can broil the Chicken Cordon Bleu for a couple of minutes after baking.
