Equipment

  • Large Skillet For cooking the pasta.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1.5 cup dry ditalini pasta
  • 2.5 cup chicken broth
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 0.33 cup heavy cream
  • 4 tablespoons salted butter
  • 0.5 cup parmesan cheese
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley Optional topping
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes Optional topping

Instructions

  • In a large skillet over medium-low heat, add 2 tablespoons of olive oil and minced garlic. Sauté until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
  • Add the ditalini pasta to the skillet, just enough to cover the bottom. Stir to combine with the garlic.
  • Pour in enough chicken broth to cover the pasta, adding salt and pepper. Bring to a boil, then cover and simmer for 9-10 minutes.
  • Remove the lid and stir the pasta to check for doneness; some broth will remain but will be absorbed as it cools.
  • Drizzle in the heavy cream and stir it into the pasta over low heat for about 1 minute.
  • Remove from heat and add butter and parmesan cheese. Stir until melted.
  • Taste the pasta and adjust seasoning if necessary. Add red pepper flakes for spice, if desired.

Notes

Top with fresh parsley and extra parmesan cheese before serving for added flavor. For a vegetarian option, use vegetable broth instead of chicken broth.
