Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons oil
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium sweet onion, chopped
  • 1 medium orange bell pepper, seeded and chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 14 oz fire-roasted diced tomatoes
  • 0.5 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 0.5 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 small head green cabbage, cored and chopped
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar or jack cheese

Instructions

  • Heat oil in a large pan over medium-high heat. Add ground beef, onion, and bell pepper. Cook until the beef is browned and onions are translucent, about 5-7 minutes. Tip: Make sure to break up the beef as it cooks for even browning.
  • Add garlic and sauté for another minute until fragrant.
  • Stir in diced tomatoes, smoked paprika, oregano, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well to combine.
  • Place chopped cabbage on top of the beef mixture. Cover and cook for 15-20 minutes until the cabbage is tender. Tip: Stir occasionally to prevent sticking and ensure even cooking.
  • Sprinkle shredded cheese over the cooked mixture. Cover again and let cook until the cheese melts, about 3-5 minutes.
  • Serve hot, and enjoy your delicious cabbage and beef skillet!
