Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 0.33 cup thickened/whipping cream
  • 7 oz dark cooking chocolate (40% cocoa solids), finely chopped
  • 1 tsp finely grated orange zest
  • 0.33 cup chocolate sprinkles

Instructions

  • Line a small, flat dish with non-stick baking paper to prevent sticking.
  • Place chocolate sprinkles in a small bowl and set aside for coating your truffles later.
  • Prepare a baking tray by lining it with non-stick baking paper, ready for your finished truffles.
  • In a small saucepan, heat the cream and orange zest over low heat until just below boiling. Be careful not to let it boil.
  • Remove the saucepan from heat and add the chopped chocolate. Stir the mixture until smooth and fully combined.
  • Pour the chocolate mixture into the prepared dish and refrigerate for about 2 hours until firm. This step is crucial for achieving the perfect truffle consistency!
  • Once firm, use a small ice cream scoop or teaspoon to form small portions of the mixture into balls. Aim for about 1 inch in diameter.
  • Roll each ball in the chocolate sprinkles until they are evenly coated. This adds a delightful crunch!
  • Place the truffles on the lined tray and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes until they are firm again.
  • Store the truffles in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week, separating layers with non-stick baking paper if needed to prevent sticking.

Notes

For a variation, you can roll the truffles in cocoa powder, chopped nuts, or coconut flakes instead of chocolate sprinkles.
