Main Ingredients

  • 14 oz beef, very thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 0.5 teaspoon white pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 2 teaspoons Shaoxing wine No alcoholic drinks allowed, please substitute with a non-alcoholic option.
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 6 mm ginger, peeled and sliced
  • 2 tablespoons Sichuan chili bean paste (doubanjiang)
  • 1 red bell pepper red bell pepper, seeded and diced
  • 1 tablespoon plum sauce
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 10 oz pineapple, diced
  • 1 bunch cilantro leaves for garnish
  • 1 serving cooked rice for serving

Instructions
 

  • Combine beef with marinade ingredients in a bowl and let it marinate for 30 minutes.
  • Heat a wok over medium-high heat, add oil, and stir-fry the marinated beef for 1 minute until browned. Remove and set aside.
  • Add minced garlic, sliced ginger, and Sichuan chili bean paste to the wok. Stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until fragrant.
  • Add diced red bell pepper and stir-fry for a few minutes until it starts to soften.
  • Return cooked beef to the wok, add plum sauce, sugar, salt, and diced pineapple. Mix well and cook until heated through.
  • Serve stir-fry over rice and garnish with fresh cilantro leaves.

Notes

For a milder dish, reduce the amount of Sichuan chili bean paste. You can add other vegetables like broccoli or snap peas for extra color and nutrition.
