  • 2 lbs lean ground beef
  • 1 cup diced mushrooms
  • 1 cup diced onions
  • 0.87 oz brown gravy mix
  • 10.5 oz condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 3 cups water
  • 0.25 cup butter
  • 1.5 cups milk
  • 8 oz Butter & Herb instant mashed potato mix

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • In a large saucepan over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef with a small amount of butter until fully cooked.
  • Add the diced mushrooms and onions to the pan and continue cooking until the onions are translucent.
  • Drain any excess liquid from the pan.
  • Stir in the brown gravy mix and cream of mushroom soup until the meat is well coated.
  • Transfer the meat mixture to a greased 9 x 13 inch baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
  • In a large saucepan, bring the water and butter to a boil.
  • Once boiling, remove the pan from the heat and add the milk and instant mashed potato mix. Stir gently and let it sit for one minute.
  • After a minute, stir the potatoes again and spread them over the meat mixture in the baking dish.
  • Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake the casserole until the potatoes start to brown around the edges.
  • Remove the casserole from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

For added flavor, consider sprinkling some shredded cheese on top of the mashed potatoes before baking.
