  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound Italian sausage
  • 0.5 large yellow onion sliced
  • 2 each red bell peppers sliced
  • 2 each green bell peppers sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 teaspoons sazon
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 2 teaspoons chicken bouillon or 3/4 cup chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper chili flakes
  • 0.75 cup water omit if using broth

Instructions
 

  • Heat olive oil in a medium-sized pan over medium-high heat. Make small cuts in each sausage and brown them in the pan for about 5 minutes, turning to brown on all sides.
  • Remove the sausages from the pan. In the same pan, add the sliced peppers, garlic, and onions. Cook while stirring occasionally for 5 minutes. While they cook, cut the sausages into one-inch round pieces.
  • Return the sausage to the pan. Season with sazon, Italian seasoning, red pepper flakes, and bouillon. Mix well and pour in the water. If using chicken broth, add it now. Bring to a boil, cover, reduce heat to medium-low, and let it simmer for 10-15 minutes.
  • After 10 minutes, the sausage and peppers should be cooked. Serve over rice or on a roll. Enjoy your meal!

Notes

For a spicier kick, increase the amount of red pepper chili flakes. No alcoholic drinks allowed, please substitute with a non-alcoholic option.
