Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 4 lb beef brisket
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tsp paprika powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 0.5 tsp cumin powder
  • 0.75 tsp mustard powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 0.5 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1.5 cups ketchup
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tsp onion powder
  • 2 tsp mustard powder
  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  • Mix brown sugar, paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, cumin, mustard powder, salt, and black pepper to create the rub. Massage the rub all over the beef brisket.
  • Combine minced garlic, apple cider vinegar, ketchup, brown sugar, black pepper, onion powder, mustard powder, cayenne pepper, and Worcestershire sauce in a slow cooker.
  • Add the seasoned brisket to the slow cooker, ensuring it's submerged in the sauce. Cook on low for 8-10 hours until tender.
  • Remove brisket and place on a tray. Pour cooking liquid into a saucepan and simmer until it thickens.
  • Drizzle brisket with olive oil and roast in a preheated oven at 390°F for 15 minutes until browned.
  • Baste brisket with thickened sauce and return to the oven for 5 minutes, repeating until caramelized.
  • Slice brisket thinly across the grain and serve with remaining BBQ sauce.

Notes

For sliders, serve the brisket on soft rolls with coleslaw. The recipe can be made ahead and refrigerated for up to 3 days before reheating and browning.
