Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 0.5 cup butter
  • 2 cups long-grain white rice rinsed
  • 1 unit yellow onion diced
  • 2 tablespoons paprika
  • 1 tablespoon dried parsley
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper adjust to taste
  • 5 cups chicken stock

Instructions

  • In a large saucepan over medium-high heat, melt the butter. Make sure to watch it closely to prevent burning.
  • Add the rinsed rice and sauté until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Stir occasionally to ensure even cooking and browning.
  • Mix in the diced onion, paprika, parsley, garlic powder, and crushed red pepper until well combined. The aroma will start to fill your kitchen!
  • Pour in the chicken stock, stir, and bring to a boil. This step is crucial for developing the flavors.
  • Reduce the heat to low, cover the saucepan, and let it simmer for 25-30 minutes, or until the rice has softened and most of the liquid is absorbed. Be cautious not to overcook; the rice should still have a slightly wet appearance.
  • Serve immediately. This rice pairs beautifully with grilled meats or as a standalone dish.

Notes

Feel free to adjust the amount of crushed red pepper to suit your spice preference. No alcoholic drinks allowed, please substitute with a non-alcoholic option.
