Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1.5 pound ground beef (preferably 80/20)
  • 1.5 teaspoon Kosher salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 pound baby potatoes (cubed)
  • 1 pound mushrooms (quartered)
  • 1 medium yellow or red onion (thickly sliced)
  • 2 tablespoon olive oil
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon paprika
  • 0.5 teaspoon oregano
  • 0.5 teaspoon parsley
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • KRAFT Heinz Simply Ketchup
  • Miracle Whip
  • Lettuce
  • Tomato
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese (or cheese of your choice)

Instructions

  • Preheat your grill to 400°F (200°C). If you’re using a campfire or oven, see the notes for alternative cooking methods.
  • In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, Kosher salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and Worcestershire sauce. Gently mix with your fingers until well combined, then form the mixture into four equal patties.
  • In another bowl, toss together the cubed baby potatoes, quartered mushrooms, and thickly sliced onion with olive oil, garlic powder, paprika, oregano, and parsley. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • If cooking over a campfire, place a cabbage leaf on the bottom of each heavy-duty aluminum foil strip (about 2 ft long) before adding the veggie mixture. If using a grill, layer the veggie mixture first, then place the burger patty on top.
  • Bring the two short sides of the foil together and fold them down to seal. Then, fold or roll up the remaining two sides to create a sealed packet.
  • Place the foil packets directly on the grill grates. Cover and cook for 25-30 minutes, or until the burger reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
  • Carefully unwrap the packets (watch out for hot steam!). If desired, place a slice of cheese on top of each burger, loosely roll the foil back up, and let the cheese melt for a few minutes.
  • Serve the burgers with Miracle Whip or KRAFT Heinz Simply Ketchup, along with your favorite toppings like lettuce and tomato.

Notes

For a smoky flavor, try adding some smoked paprika to the veggie mix. You can also use other vegetables like bell peppers or zucchini for variety. If you prefer oven cooking, place the packets on a baking sheet and bake at 400°F (200°C) for about 30-35 minutes.
